Hovey Park

The City of Lowell Planning and Development received a State Division of Conservation PARC Grant which allowed them additional funding to renovate Hovey Park. An important aspect of the grant is improving universal accessibility. Using topography, this playground design allows for great access right to the top of the playground equipment. Taking inspiration from a treehouse, this playstructure includes a corrugated roof and accents like butterflies and flowers. One of the best features of this playground is the hillside rollerslide shown in the foreground. At the bottom of the rollerslide is a “dignity exit”; a platform that allows a child to transfer from the slide exit to await their mobility device or recover from play and take a break while allowing others to continue to slide
