Everyone’s Playground at Curvin McCabe Elementary School

This new 14,000 square foot playground area at Curvin McCabe Elementary School was well overdue.  Without a playground for decades, Pawtucket School Department invested over a million dollars to bring a brightly colored, fun and accessible playground space to what was once a large asphalt play area. Including the colorful and barrier-free Poured-in-Place surfacing, this playground incorporates tons of components, a variety of activities and lots of opportunities for children of all abilities.  Incorporating shade into a playground can be paramount for children and caregivers with disabilities.  The shade fabric roofs, shown here, are designed to block up to 97 percent of the sun’s UV rays and keep playground temperatures up to 30 degrees cooler.
