Barbara Colby Playground at Tenean Beach

The cool aesthetics of Hot Dip Galvanized (HDG) steel offer a fresh look at this playground.  Located in the Boston Harbor, this coastal recreation area with salt air and salt spray can be harsh on steel.  HDG on the playstructures seen here provide an extra level of protection against the harsh elements of salty air and water which play a big role in metal corrosion.  By completely immersing a product into a bath of molten zinc, the zinc reacts with steel to form a series of multiple layers making it highly resistant to corrosion.

Blending HDG with cool colors like tangerine and lagoon shown here, this distinctive zinc patina gradually takes on a uniform matte gray appearance.  It blends in well with the styles of many different play environments – urban, sculptural, modern, industrial and more.
