Eric W. O'Brien
Chairman

Eric has been in the leadership role with O'Brien & Sons since 1965 and became President of the company in 1980.  O'Brien & Sons is a family operated business, for almost 80 years, taking pride in its carefully built reputation for quality service throughout New England.

Eric and his staff have been assisting municipalities, developers, and private organizations in designing and building park and recreational facilities and urban streetscapes while meeting new Federal Consumer Product Safety Commission Guidelines and the requirements of the American's with Disabilities Act.

Eric's extensive knowledge has lead to a number of positions such as:
  • Director, City Parks Alliance

  • A World Judge for Nations in Bloom, LTD, an organization fostering sustainable and livable communities (1996 to 2001)

  • Chairman of the Board for the National Recreation and Park Association (1985-1999)
  • Trustee and Advisor to the National Association of Olmsted Parks (1984-1990)
  • Olmsted Historic Landscape Preservation Program, Statewide Advisory Committee(1985-1990)
  • Governor's Blue Ribbon Panel on Land Protection (1988)
  • Massachusetts Historic Preservation Advisory Committee.

    Eric also serves in an advisory position to many manufacturers in the industry.


John Taylor

Since 2002, John has been assisting clients in developing unique active and passive open spaces. The proper selection of site amenities, playground components, and athletic equipment is essential to any successful design. These elements are needed to maximize play value, encourage social interaction, promote activity, provide function and durability and be harmonious with the design.

His practical expertise as an estimator and project administrator for a landscape firm specializing in park and playground rehabilitation and as Senior Park Planner for the City of Springfield is useful when assisting with your project. This experience helps him understand the concerns and issues of a great design.

Nancy White
Vice President of Sales

Nancy is the Vice President of Sales and has been with O’Brien & Sons for 14 years. Prior to employment with O’Brien & Sons, Nancy was the Director of Parks and Recreation in Needham, Massachusetts. Her background includes municipal government operations, park and recreation philosophies, park planning, group dynamics with government agencies, cooperative partnerships and group planning for parks and playgrounds.

Meghan O'Brien

Since 1998, Meghan has served as a designer, consultant, project manager and installation expert for many outdoor recreation and open space areas. Traveling all over Rhode Island, Eastern Connecticut and South Eastern Massachusetts, she has worked with a variety of professionals assisting in the creation of wonderful play spaces and passive recreation areas.

Andrew C. Berger
Certified Playground Safety Inspector, CPSI

Andrew has 15 years experience relating to the manufacture, installation and design of Landscape Structures play equipment.  In addition, Andrew is a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) registered with the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA).  This certification is critical to the safe design of play equipment.  Andrew's experience working in management has proven to be an asset to his customer base providing practical advice and clear detail relating to the products we sell and service.  

In addition, Andrew has a strong background relating to the installation of playground equipment and related amenities.  He has managed playground installations from beginning to end.  This experience has enable him to be more well rounded providing sound technical assistance for his customers including many successful volunteer community builds.

Joel St. Pierre

Joel St. Pierre is a graduate of the University of Maine in Recreation & Park Management. He has a total of 14 years of experience working in municipalities. Joel has been Recreation Director of a small community in Maine and also worked in Portland, Me, the states largest city. This has given him keen insight into the different needs and approaches of various sized/populated communities. 

In Joel’s tenure as a municipal employee he has overseen many projects not to mention everyday park and playground maintenance. This enables him to understand the end users needs for attractive, fun, safe and low maintenance items.

Peter R. Wallace
Certified Playground Safety Inspector, CPSI

Peter, a graduate of Norwich University in Northfield, VT has had from 1984 to 1996, 12 years of municipal park and recreation experience.  The last four years were served as Director of Parks and Recreation for a suburb of Montreal, Quebec.  Since 1996 when a family move brought him to the United States, Peter has been working as a playground consultant and selling outdoor recreational products.

In 1999, Peter joined the staff of O'Brien and Sons when he subsequently attained the Certified Leisure Professional and Certified Playground Safety Inspector accreditations.  His experiences with municipal recreation, combined with 12 years of experience in the sales field has given Peter a solid background which helps him understand the needs and desires of his customers.
